Renowned for its misty mountains and scenic beauty, Thodupuzha is the largest town in Idukki district. Once part of the territory of the Travancore dynasty. Thodupuzha derives its name from the word Thodu (Touch) and Puzha (River) with the river touching the town. It is the hilly terrain that classifies the region as “Malanad”.
With an excellent network of roads, Thodupuzha is well connected to nearby cities and towns. Nearest railway station: Kottayam - 52 kms and Aluva-53kms. Nearest airport: Cochin International Airport-59kms.
Kerala’s Second largest district, is blessed with numerous natural wonders. The high valleys and hill ranges of this landlocked region are fed by three major rivers - Periyar, Thalayar and Thodupuzhayar and their tributaries. Idukki dam, a double curvature arch dam constructed across the Periyar River, is one of the highest arch dams in Asia.
Thommankuthu Waterfalls, is one of the favourite tourist spots for anyone visiting Idukki. This seven-step waterfall is among the premier adventure sport locations in the district. The place is famous for its plethora of picnic spots.
Vagamon, an enchanting hill station located on the Idukki-Kottayam border, dotted with gardens and beautiful meadows, has been listed by National Geographic Traveller in their directory as one of the “50 most attractive places to visit in India”.
Thekkady, another favourite tourist destination, is a great spot for jungle vacation. It is home to the country’s largest tiger reserve, Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary and is one of Kerala’s prestigious possessions on the high ranges of the Western Ghats.
Munnar, known as the “Kashmir of South India”, is famous for the “Neelakurinji flower”, which blooms once in 12 years and bathes the hills blue . It boasts of the highest peak in South India, Anamudi. One of the most coveted destinations in South India, this is truly a paradise.
ISA MALANAD: Welcome to the hills and vales of Malanad, one of the youngest branches of ISA Kerala. Starting off as “Malanadu Anaesthesia Club” in 2015, tireless efforts of the visionaries resulted in the formation of ISA Malanad city branch on 28th January 2018.
